October 2021 Newsletter

The first piece of news is a change of Clerk ! Lesley has decided to pursue other interests and has resigned as Clerk. I have taken on the role on an interim basis pending the appointment of a permanent Clerk. A formal advertisement for the position will be posted soon but in the meantime anyone interested in the role should contact the council via the email address below.

Another good public attendance at this month’s meeting and residents were able to hear and contribute to the council’s proposed response to the Mole Valley Local Plan. In principal the council are opposed to the development sites so far put forward and are recommending an alternative site on Kingsland, subject to agreement with the landowner. The Parish Council intend to hold a Public Briefing in the next couple of weeks to allow residents to consider the council’s response. The Mole Valley consultation closes on 7th November.

And speaking of consultations, many of you will be aware that Gatwick has published its consultation for its proposal to substantially expand the airport over the next 30 years. The impacts of such expansion are many and varied and residents are advised to visit Gatwick’s website to view at least the summary of the proposals (www.gatwickairport.com/business- community/future-plans/). We then recommend you view GACC’s website which has details on how to challenge these proposals (www.gacc.org.uk). This consultation closes on 1st December.

It must be the season for consultations as there is another one that affects our community and this is the proposal from the Local Government Boundary Commission. The Commission is reviewing the boundaries within the district to ensure that each councillor represents a similar number of electors. This consultation closes on 6th December and more information o what its about and how to engage are on Mole Valley’s website (https://news.molevalley.gov.uk/2021/10/04/have-your-say-on-a-new-electoral-map-for-mole- valley-district-council.

Enough consultations to keep you going and on other matters of interest such as footpaths & bridleways, traffic calming, Newdigate Brickworks and Fibre broadband all these are ongoing subjects that we hope to update you on next month. Be assured they are all being actively pursued by your council.

Everyone is welcome to attend Parish Council meetings. The next one will be on Monday 8th November in the Village Hall starting at 8pm.
